Oxbow launches into Australia with the Oxbow Australian Longboard Titles.
Oxbow has announced their support of Australian surfing with the announcement of the Oxbow Australian Longboard Titles.
In what can only be described as a coup for Australian longboarding, Oxbow has affirmed their presence within the Australian surfing landscape with their commitment to grass roots surfing.
Running as part of the the Country Energy Australian Surf Festival from the 17th– 23rd August, the Oxbow Australian Longboard Titles will see the best longboard riders from across the nation converging upon Port Macquarie. With 11 prestigious national titles up for grabs at the Titles, Mick Beggs, Oxbow’s General Manager for the Asia Pacific region, is excited about the prospect of such a world-class event.
“It is a privilege for Oxbow to align with the Australian Longboard Titles,” he said.
“Oxbow is a brand steeped in longboard history internationally so it is a perfect fit for us to be the Title Sponsor of the Australian Longboard Titles, which carries so much prestige and tradition,” Beggs added.
Commencing on Sunday 17th August 2008, and running until Saturday 23rd August, the Titles will see competitors competing in the Under 18 Boys and Girls, Open Men and Women, Over 35 Men and Women and Over 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60 years male divisions.
Speaking on behalf of Surfing Australia, CEO Mark Lane is thrilled with Oxbow’s presence within the Australian surfing landscape and couldn’t ask for a better sponsor for such a prestigious event.
“We are over the moon that a company so intertwined with longboarding and surfing history, such as Oxbow, are on board with this event,” he said.

Competing at the Oxbow Australian Longboard Titles will be defending Australian and NSW longboard champion, Harley Ingleby (Sandy Beach, NSW).
Ingelby, who has been in fantastic form of late winning the Oxbow ASP World Longboard Tour event in France in April, will be hard to beat in the wave rich beach breaks of Port Macquarie.
Oxbow Team Rider Bryce Young (Angourie, NSW) will also be another competitor to watch at the Oxbow Australian Longboard Titles.Son of multiple world champ Nat Young, Bryce finished third in the under 18 years division and equal seventh in last year’s Open Men’s division.
